I entered a Twitter contest the other day to win a free book from Thea Harrison  http://theaharrison.com/  and won! I can't wait to read it. I love her books. Her guys are so HOT!!! If you're into paranormals or not, she's worth the try. And look, she signed it! Thank you, Thea Harrison! Happy reading! Signed!

Happy Halloween!!!

For all those celebrating Halloween, have a wonderful day. I know that many of the kids in the area's where Sandy hit won't be going out today and I feel so bad for them. Everyone have a safe night!

Time to read Novembers book club book!

Image
It's that time again, time to pick up and read the book we picked for book club. Our meeting for November is on the 2nd so it was time to start. I don't know about the rest of you but when I read a book for book club I like to start it a few days before. That way its fresh in my mind for when we talk about it. I haven't gotten very far into it yet, only about 29 pages so far. I can tell you, those 29 pages have kept me wanting more. Who wouldn't want to read about cowboys? Not only is the cover hot, the writing so far is just as hot. I will let you all know how it turns out but, I wouldn't wait for me, run out and get it for yourself. What's everyone reading for their book clubs? I'd like to start an online book club here, so if you'd like to be part of it let me know. Happy reading!

One Fine Fireman by Jennifer Bernard

Image
I received this as a eARC from Avon couldn't have been happier. I really enjoy the other book I've read of hers. This is a novella so its a quick read. If your are into reading books with firemen this is one for you, hell even if your not, give it a try. Kirk is a great guy who's a little shy. That doesn't last forever, and soon he's in Maribel's life forever. A must read. This ebk is out on November 13th .

Vampire In Atlantis by Alyssa Day

From the moment I read about Daniel, I fell in love. There was something about him that made you take notice. He was neither good or bad. You couldn't always figure out what he was up to, and what would happen around him. I love that about him. I was slightly worried when I finally read his book, (I think this is why I put it off for so long) that he wouldn't live up to what I thought he should. I'm glad to say that he did. The story between Daniel and Serai was a great love story. It kept you reading till the end. I'm so happy Daniel got his own story, and even happier that it was so good. Happy reading!

It's Sunday!

I have to tell you I love Sundays. When I don't have any plans I like to take the time to sit around and read. There is nothing better than to curl up on the couch and relax with a good book. Not that I don't read the rest of the week, because I do. I just do get to relax the same what. Soon the weather will be changing and Sunday reading time will be even better. When it's snowing out who wouldn't rather sit inside with a good book. Now I'm off to read and I hope you've had a wonderful Sunday so far. Feel free to give us a shout out on what you're reading. Happy reading!

How do you pick your books?

My friends and I talk about this often. I can't speak for them, or you, but I can myself. When I look through the RT Book Talk to see what's coming out, or check booksellers sites, I start first by authors I already read. Then I look at covers. Yes, I'm one of those. Sometimes I buy a book just because I like the cover. I try not to do this often because, I don't always care for the book and with the amount I buy, I try to only spend my money on the ones I will like. I then go and read what the stories are about, and if they catch my attention, I might buy them. I also look at ones that my friends tell me about. The friends that know my taste of course. Last, I go to the review sites. Sometimes I'm careful with them because I not sure if one, their taste is like mine, or two, they are reviewing the book honestly or if they just want to keep getting books free from publishers. You also have to be careful of want-to-be authors that will find fault with everything. So

What I'm reading now

Image
It was time for me to pick a new book to read, and I've decided what it is. I was going to do our book club pick The Trouble With Cowboys by Melissa Cutler,  but I like to do that closer to the date of the meeting, and we have about a week before we get together. So I picked Vampire in Atlantis by Alyssa Day . I'm slightly behind on her as you can see, and with Alaric and Quinn's story coming out, I have to get caught up. As much as I love all of her characters, there is something about Alaric that scream's sexy! I'm also looking forward to her new series and can't wait for it to come out next year. If you like paranormal romance, or would like to try something new, then Alyssa Day's The Warriors of Poseidon  is worth the read. Happy reading!

Hot & Haunted by Hart, Hawkeye & DeWylde

Image
I received this book as an ARC from Avon and was happy to be able to read it. I'm a big fan of anthologies because they give you a taste of a few different authors, ones you might not have read before. These authors were a first for me. I haven't read any of them, so I wanted to give them a try. With Halloween right around the corner this is a wonderful book to spend it with.   Happy reading! Nothing Else Matters by Megan Hart      I have a friend that reads her so I was happy to give her a try. The story was good, but not my favorite of the the group. Pick Me Up by Lauren Hawkeye      I'm not a fan of first person, (in fact I hate it) so I didn't read this story. I knew I couldn't do it justice, and it wouldn't be fair to all parties. Little Red's Big Bad by Saranna DeWylde      This author too, is a first for me and I found that I really enjoyed her story. I did feel that the ending should have been slightly  better, but with saying that, it di

Friends, Food & talking about books!

There is no better way to spend the evening then enjoying good food, (if I say so myself) drinks and talking about books with good friends. That's how I spent my evening. Two of my best friends came over for dinner tonight and as we ate we talked about what we were reading and enjoying. I've spent years with these ladies, and have had books in common with them, for that whole time. Do any of you have girlfriends like this? Happy reading!

Dire Needs by Stephanie Tyler

Image
I have finally finished Dire Needs. It took me awhile to read and I'm glad to be done. Not because it was a horrible, but because I think the writing style of Ms. Tyler is one that you have to enjoy to really love her books. She spends a lot of the time character jumping. So one minute you're in the head of this person, and the next, someone else. It always took me a second to recognize this fact. It made it hard to get into the story and it be a smooth read. Now, with that being said, I did like the story idea and the characters. Because of that fact, I will give the next book a chance. I also think she could have made the story shorter by like 100 pages.

Why is this book taking so long to read?

Do you ever feel that way? Lately I do a lot. I'm not sure why. Sometimes I wonder if it's because I've been reading for so long without really taking a break, that it's my minds way of saying...enough for now. Of course that thought makes my heart clench in fear. I can't go without reading. I'm hoping it's the thoughts of the holidays coming and all the things I have to do. If you've had the same issue, share with us. Happy reading

Where is your favorite place to read?

I know we all have different places we like to read. For me, it's my couch. I love to pull my favorite blanket (the one my daughter gave me) and get comfortable with a pillow and slip into a good read. I don't read as fast as I use to, so, I have to be very comfortable. What about you? What's your favorite place to relax when  you read? Happy reading!

Book Club Part 2

So book club turned out to be a wonderful night. We did some eating, drinking, laughing and a lot of book talking. We all pretty much agreed on the fact that we didn't care for the book. It's sad to say, but we all can't love everything. We did talk about how long we've been getting together. It's been around 7 years. It says something when you can keep a book club going for that long. We picked our next book, The Trouble with Cowboys by Melissa Cutler. I can't wait to read it. I'm still working on Dire Needs by Stephanie Tyler and am enjoying it. Happy reading, everyone!

Book Club

Tonight is book club and we read Warrior Redemption by Melissa Mayhue. I can't speak for the others in our group, but I wasn't a fan. I've enjoyed her older books but this one was boring, and hard to get into. You didn't really get a good feel for the characters, which for me, makes it hard to get into a story. I found myself unable to do more than read a chapter or two a sitting. Then, I had to force myself to go back to it. I will let you all know what the others thought.

What I'm reading now!

Image
Characters: Rifter Gwen She's a newer author for me so I'm not sure how I feel about her yet. I read the first book in this series, Dire Warning and felt a little confused. I am liking this one better, so when I'm done, I'll let you all know. If you have read it tell me what you thought.

Book Club

It's that time again. I have book club at the end of week. This time we are reading Melissa Mayhue's Warrior's Redemption. I will let you know what I think when I'm done.

Sexiest Vampire Alive by Kerrelyn Sparks

As you can see I'm a little behind on this series. So far I've been enjoying the story and can't wait to see what happens next.
