Review & Giveaway: Claimed by J. R. Ward

Lydia Susi is passionate about protecting wolves in their natural habitat. When a hotel chain develops a tract of land next to the preserve, Lydia is one of the most vocal opponents of the project—and becomes a target. One night, a shadowy figure threatens Lydia’s life in the forest, and a new hire at the Wolf Study Project comes from out of nowhere to save her. Daniel Joseph is both mysterious, and someone she intrinsically wants to trust. But is he hiding something? As the stakes get higher, and one of Lydia’s colleagues is murdered, she must decide how far she will go to protect the wolves. Then a shocking revelation about Daniel challenges Lydia’s reality in ways she could never have predicted. Some fates demand courage, others require even more, with no guarantees. Is she destined to have true love... or will a soul-shattering loss ruin her forever? After starting the last new series by Ward and really enjoying it only for nothing else to come out I was kinda so-so about starting

Review: Bayou Beauty by Lexi Blake

Image
Sylvie Martine was prepared to take Washington D.C. by storm, but she put that dream on hold when her beloved hometown of Papillon, Louisiana, needed her most. Now Sylvie's the mayor of the tiny town on the bayou that holds her heart. But for Sylvie, this can only be a pit stop on the way to bigger and better things. The last thing she needs is an old love to resurface and threaten her goals. Rene Darois's whole life has been about serving his family--no matter how much it hurts. He's used to sacrificing for his large extended family and the company his grandfather created. But he can't believe the latest demand: he needs to find a wife and quick or he could lose it all. It would be a horrible situation. But he has just the solution: his high school sweetheart. Sylvie is everything he wants in a wife--smart, funny, and caring--and he planned to woo her anyway. Now he just has to convince Sylvie that their love is worth it all, or he and the bayou will lose her forever.

Welcome back to #BookClubThursday! This was from a cover reveal I did on 7/15/14 here's the  link  if you want to see the full post. I really enjoyed this series but sadly the author never finished it. Things like this make for a good argument on why you shouldn't read series. Again sadly I love them so I deal with a ton of disappointment. Any of you ever have the same issue? Come back on July 22nd "Reading Challenge" Don't forget to visit  Cyndi @ Born to Read Books

Review & Giveaway: The Texan's Secret Son by Kit Hawthorn

Image
Can she forgive… The man who walked away? Eight years ago, Marcos Ramirez met and married Nina Walker in the space of a day. The next morning, a family tragedy had him hightailing it back to his family’s Texas ranch. After annulling the marriage and redeploying with the marines, Marcos never thought he’d see Nina again. But now she’s moved to his hometown, with a secret that will change this rancher’s life forever… So this is the first time I've read this author and I didn't realize that it was not the first book in the series. I hate when I do that but once I agreed to it I went in with both hands.  Whenever I read a new author I always try to go in with an open mind. I know that I might need to get into their writing style and that it might now work for me. Happily, I had no trouble getting into The Texan's Secret Son.  I really enjoyed both the story and the characters. I loved Nina and thought she was a great mother. At times it's pointed out to her that she's a
