Book Club Thursday!

Image
Welcome back to #BookClubThursday! Well, spring is here, and for some people, that means warm weather. For us, in Chicago, it means one day you have the windows open and the heat lowered, and the next, snow and the heat is back up. One of the thing I love about the warmer weather is planting my flowers and enjoying a glass of wine while I sit outside and read. What's something you like about spring? Maybe if we all think of spring it will turn nice and warm. Happy spring!  Come back April 7th "Trivia Thursday"

ARC Review: Chase Wilde Comes Home by Jennifer Ryan

Image
Chase Wilde never expected to fall in love, especially with Shelby Payne. Years before, one passionate night had drawn these two lost souls together. Then Chase left on deployment with the Army, while Shelby raised their baby alone. Now he's back, a wounded warrior determined to turn his life around. Shelby knows what it's like to lose everything, including her own family. So she offers him a bargain: if he can prove himself to be the man he says he is, she will let him into their daughter's life...and maybe even into hers. Chase knows it will take a lot to prove to Shelby that there's more between them than the single night they spent together. She's everything he's ever wanted, including the voice of reason he needs to reconcile his past and be the man he wants to be for them both. But just as their lives come together, she's torn away from him by a dangerous person from her past, and saving her means saving himself . . . because he can't live without

Review: Country Proud by Linda Lael Miller

Image
There’s something missing from Eli Garrett’s life. He loves being the sheriff of Painted Pony Creek, Montana, so it’s not his job. He’s had the same two best friends since he was a kid and he’s grateful for them, so it’s not that, either. But ever since his buddy Cord’s recent marriage, Eli has a nagging suspicion that he wants what Cord has. And there’s a beautiful woman who has caught his eye—someone who’s returned to town that he can’t get off his mind. Brynne Bailey is spirited and compassionate, and being with her makes Eli feel alive again. But he suspects there’s more to her than she is letting on, and he is determined to get to the bottom of it. Country Proud is the second book in the Painted Pony Creek series and I very much enjoyed it. I really enjoyed both Eli and Brynne. You could see why they at one time were together. They just fit.  Eli is a sweet guy that works so hard at his job and helps his sister with her family. She counts on him and he doesn't mind at all What

Novella Review: Hope for Christmas by Stacy Finz

Image
Sparkling lights, sugar cookies, a fragrant tree—Emily McCreedy is checking off her list for a perfect holiday with a new baby on her hip, two adorable stepsons hunting for presents, and her husband’s love shoring up the life she rebuilt after the unbelievable tragedy of losing her young daughter to abduction seven years ago. But the merriment dims when Emily receives a strange note alluding to her daughter’s disappearance. Emily’s sure Christmas miracles are only for TV movies, but with each new communication, she finds herself face to face with the one thing that matters most—hope. Hope for Christmas is one of those books that crush you while making you believe in miracles. It's also why it's sometimes best to read a book in order. If you've read Finding Hope, then you know that Emily's daughter has disappeared. You also know that most people think she had something to do with it. It's a heartbreaking story that has a happy ending. Somewhat... Happily, this is th
