ARC Review: Chase Wilde Comes Home by Jennifer Ryan

Chase Wilde never expected to fall in love, especially with Shelby Payne. Years before, one passionate night had drawn these two lost souls together. Then Chase left on deployment with the Army, while Shelby raised their baby alone. Now he's back, a wounded warrior determined to turn his life around. Shelby knows what it's like to lose everything, including her own family. So she offers him a bargain: if he can prove himself to be the man he says he is, she will let him into their daughter's life...and maybe even into hers.

Chase knows it will take a lot to prove to Shelby that there's more between them than the single night they spent together. She's everything he's ever wanted, including the voice of reason he needs to reconcile his past and be the man he wants to be for them both. But just as their lives come together, she's torn away from him by a dangerous person from her past, and saving her means saving himself . . . because he can't live without her.
What I love about Jennifer Ryan's books is her ability to cause you no end of emotions when you read her books. One second you'll be smiling as you read it and then you'll find yourself yelling at a character in the book. Or, the tears will happen. She makes you invested in the characters and you want, no need for them to have a happy ending.

After first meeting Chase in Tough Talking Cowboy in the Wild Rose Ranch series. I really wanted his story. Your heart will break for him in that book. He goes through so much and what happens in the book only adds to the guilt he's already carrying around with him.

I wasn't sure what women could handle him and the guilt he carries and was so happy to meet Shelby. You'll love her. She has Chase's best interest at heart and she'll do whatever she has to help him and stand by his side.

I love how Chase is around his daughter. It's so cute home much she loves him when she really doesn't know him that well. I also think you'll love how Shelby made sure he was always in his daughter's life even when he was overseas. She's a great mother who thought first of her daughter than her own feelings.

I'm also glad to see that Chase could care less about Shelby's past and where she came from. He sees the wonderful woman that she is. He loves for who she is. Shelby's backstory is so sad and you should read it for yourself so that's all I will say on that.

I feel for Chase and the decisions he made regarding his mother. I'm sorry it caused so many issues with his brothers and dad. Said brothers and dad caused a bit of upset in this story and I liked how the author handled their relationship. So many emotions.

If you love Ryan's books this one will be another to add to the list of loves. If you haven't yet read her I think you'll soon see why I love her. Chase Wilde is a wonderful story that I was so happy to read. I can't wait for more from this series. Have you read her?
