Review: The Christmas Wish by Melinda Curtis

Image
Everyone in Sunshine Valley, Colorado, is in the Christmas spirit except for Everett Bollinger, the new town manager. With money tighter than ever, Everett has had to make some tough decisions about the local holiday celebration. And taking the blame has put him in a very un-festive mood. Rosalie Reyes has big plans to open her new pet shop during the Christmas parade. But it seems like Everett is determined to sabotage the parade and her business too. With the help of the local matchmakers and a rambunctious SaintBernard named Remy, Rosalie is about to unleash the town's holiday cheer and make it a paws-itively amazing Christmas for all. Including a certain town manager who's about to discover the reason for the season...is love. I couldn't wait to read The Christmas Wish by Curtis. I will admit she's a new author for me and when I saw she had out a Christmas novella I knew I had to try it. I just loved the cute cover! Make you want to join in and enjoy the

When Trez lost his beloved to a tragic death (The Shadows, Black Dagger Brotherhood #13), his soul was crushed and his destiny seemed relegated to suffering. But when he meets a mysterious female, he becomes convinced his true love has been reincarnated. Is he right? Or has his grief created a disastrous delusion? Therese has come to Caldwell to escape a rift with her bloodline. The revelation that she was adopted and not born into her family shakes the foundations of her identity, and she is determined to make it on her own. Her attraction to Trez is not what she’s looking for, except the sexy Shadow proves to be undeniable. Has fate provided a grieving widower with a second chance...or is Trez too blinded by the past to see the present for what it really is? In this sensual, arresting book full of the themes of redemption and self-discovery, two lost souls find themselves at a crossroads where the heart is the only compass that can be trusted...but that may require a courage th

Review: All About the Bear by Bianca D'Arc

Image
New town, new people, new…shapeshifters? In the small, sleepy town of Grizzly Cove, Washington, all is not as it seems. Nell abruptly discovers that she and her sisters are the only humans in a town full of shifters – most of them bears! Knowing nothing about the paranormal creatures all around her, but wanting to know everything about the sexy sheriff who comes to her rescue, Nell has to find her backbone and brace herself to learn All About the Bear. Can he keep the shifter secret…and the girl, too? The sheriff of Grizzly Cove has more than the peace to protect. It’ll be up to Sheriff Brody to keep Nell calm and cooperative—and in his bed—for the next fifty years, or so. Yeah, that might be enough. Then again, maybe he’ll keep her forever. Somehow I started this series without reading the first three books in the series. I don't know how that happened. Okay, I lied, I do know how it happened. I kinda noticed a book of hers up for review and jumped on it and after I started i

Sunday Spotlight

Image
This year I along with  Born to Read Books   are doing a few new posts. I love changing things up and around. From now on Sundays will be Sunday spotlight, where I will talk about all things books or share a book with you. You get the idea!  This week I want to talk about when your favorite authors change genres.  Does this bother you? Many of my favorite authors have started to write women's fiction along with romance. I don't read their woman's fiction because I'm not into that but I keep reading their romance. I have one or two that's moved on and I'm not following but I guess that leaves me with space for someone new.  Because of the fact that they writing both romance and women's fiction, it seems like they have fewer books out a year for me to read with frees up my time for other authors.  Plus I'm spending less. One of my favorites Susan Mallery used to put out 3-4 romances a year, I only had one this year. If I want I can spe

Review: New York to Dallas by J. D. Robb

Image
New York homicide cop Eve Dallas, one that will take her all the way to the city that gave her her name-and plunge her into the nightmares of her childhood. When a monster named Isaac McQueen--a convict taken down by Eve back in her uniform days--escapes from Rikers, he has two things in mind. One is to take up where he left off, abducting young victims and leaving them scarred in both mind and body. The other is to get revenge on the woman who stopped him all those years ago. I've been working on getting caught up but it seems that I'm not a fast enough reading. I shouldn't have let this happen when she went to hardcover. I got a little, okay, a lot behind then and now I'm trying my best to get caught up. Someday I will.  But for now, all I can do is enjoy the books of her I'm reading.  I finally pulled out my copy of New York to Dallas and read it. I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed this one. It's a look at Eve's past when she was a beat cop

Review: Getting Lucky by Stacy Finz

Image
From his humble beginnings in Nugget, Lucky Rodriguez has become a champion on the rodeo circuit, truly living up to his name in every regard. But when he returns home, he gets something success can't buy: a daughter he never knew he had. And the girl's mother, an old friend he has hasn't thought about since now touches his heart like no buckle bunny ever could. Tawny Wade hasn't always had luck on her side. She fell for a boy she couldn't have, lost her parents too young, and now her daughter needs a transplant she can't provide. But if Lucky is a stem cell match, all that could change. The trouble is, Lucky's got a past in Nugget that makes him off-limits as anything more than a donor for her daughter. And yet, Tawny's never stopped loving the man who now holds her family's fate in his cowboy-callused hands...    Those who have been following me know how much I've loved this series. I read the whole series at the beginning of the year an

Review: One Hot Holiday by Cynthia Eden

Image
She’s running for her life. He’s the safe haven she never expected to find. The holiday season is about to get HOT. Hiding out for the holiday season in the heart of the South? Not something that Haley Quick ever expected to have on her to-do list but then…she never expected her ex to want her dead, either. Turns out, life is full of surprises. Time to deal. Haley has ditched New York for a crazy little dot on the map known as Point Hope, Alabama. It’s a town gone extra crazy for the holidays, and Haley is sticking out like a sore thumb with her very much Grinch-self. But enter sexy sheriff Spencer Lane…Tall, muscled, and made with an extra dose of sex appeal, he is exactly the kind of man that Haley should be avoiding. He’s charming, he looks way too good in a Santa hat, and, oh, yes, he’s her new landlord. The hits just keep coming. She can’t afford to let Spencer learn all of her secrets, a tough job since she is living with the man. No sex, though. It’s purely a business rela
