ARC Review: Ice Cold Liar by Cynthia Eden

She is beautiful, charming, and guilty as sin.

Ebenezer “Eb” Jones is in the mood for deadly payback. He knows that Naomi Romano killed his friend and former CIA partner. The cops suspected her, the DA wanted to charge her, but the woman was far too smart for them. She slipped away from justice. Or so she thinks. He’s about to make certain that she pays for her crimes. A life for a life. He will absolutely wreck her life. Promise made.

He’s dangerous, conniving, and cold-blooded to the core.

Lying is second nature to Eb. Pretending to be someone else is as easy as breathing. So he works to slip past Naomi’s guard. To learn her secrets. And he will learn those secrets. Even if he has to seduce them all from her beautiful, lying lips. Does that make him cold-blooded? Guilty as charged. It’s a dirty job, but someone has to do it.

Another enemy is stalking his prey.

Eb isn’t the only predator who wants justice. Naomi is being hunted, and Eb has to step in and shield her from a series of deadly attacks. Everywhere she turns, Naomi faces danger. He pretends to be the good guy, the savior that she needs. She breaks before him, desperate for help, and Eb realizes the woman is either one very fine actress…or maybe she’s not the killer he thought.

Now she believes he is a hero and doesn’t know that he is someone she should fear.

Eb succeeded in his mission of getting close to Naomi. Except now, his careful control is unraveling. He begins to want her. To need her with a desire that is more savage and primitive than any he’s ever felt before. Two options—Naomi is the best liar he has ever met in his life…or Eb has made a fatal mistake. He’s betrayed a woman who might own his heart, and if he’s not careful, a jealous enemy closing in on them may rip her from his world.

She also might wind up hating him forever once she learns just how deeply his betrayal runs…

Passion can be lethal. And love? It will make heroes turn into monsters.
I've always been a huge fan of anything that Eden writes. I just always love her books. I find her characters flawed while still being strong and even at time sweet. They often make me laugh and sometimes tear up. They are never who you think they are and always protect those they love. You see that a lot in this book. Both Eb and Naomi show up for each other even though it's not an easy thing to do at first.

Eb goes into this with preconceived thoughts and at times has an issue seeing what's the truth. Some of that is how he feels about Naomi and his past with his feelings for her. As he learns how to deal with those feelings and sees what's right in his face they start to click

You can't help for feeling for Naomi and all she's been through. Her luck with people hasn't been the best. I don't want to give anything away so you'll just have to trust me on this that sometimes the people we think we can trust are not worth it.

I so enjoyed this one and was so glad about how it ended. It made me look forward to what will be next in the Ice Breaker world. Other than Hunter who's been in a few books this one didn't introduce anyone new. Food for thought. Now I can honestly say that this is a standalone but if you have to read them out of order and not go back to book one (not sure why you wouldn't) then at least start at the sister's story and read from there. I forgot to say that I'm a huge Dean fan from Supernatural, so I got Naomi.

  1. This sounds like a good one. I've read some of her other books and really enjoyed them.
