Book Review: Twice Bitten by Lynsay Sands

For someone who’s been around for over a hundred and forty years, immortal Elspeth Argeneau hasn’t done a whole lot of living. Now that she’s moved away from her controlling mother, she’s tracking down rogue vampires and enjoying some overdue freedom. A fling would be fun. A life mate can wait. Yet to Elspeth’s surprise, her landlady’s hot grandson checks both boxes.

Wyatt fell instantly in love with Elspeth four years ago. He’s stunned to run into her again, especially as she has no memory of him. Then again, there are a lot of things about Elspeth that don’t make sense, like the miraculous speed with which her wounds heal. And the chemistry that transforms every touch into an explosion of desire. With mysterious “accidents” besieging Elspeth, the ex-Special Forces soldier appoints himself her bodyguard. But time is running out to uncover the truth about her enemies—and rediscover the man determined to love her for eternity.
There is so much to unpack with this book but to do that I'd have to ruin it for you. I can say that I really enjoyed both Elspeth and Wyatt. They just jump off the page and into your heart. Throughout the story I cheered for them. They are lifemates and should be together.

The real problem with Elspeth is her mother. The woman is horrible and has done something terrible to Elspeth. She makes this story hard to enjoy. I know she shouldn't matter because she is only one character in a book of many but that's how much I disliked her.

I feel in a way there is two storylines in this one. And two enemies. The shadowy figure out to hurt Elspeth and her mother.

Wyatt has made it his mission to protect Elspeth even from her own family. He's not sure why she's blew him off so many years ago and is still hurt but his feelings for her haven't changed. He will put his life on the line for her.

As much as this isn't my favorite book of Sands. Mostly the mother just rubbed me the wrong way, there was so much I really loved about. it. The humor like in all her books is there and she also writes some of my favorite characters.

If you haven't yet read this series, I will say that it's best to go back to the beginning. Yes, each story has a beginning and an ending. You don't have any cliffhangers but the main idea of what they are and how they became is shared across many books. Also, there are many characters that go from book to book, and you really should meet them when they hit the series. You'll enjoy them more that way. Believe me, you'll enjoy the series more that way.
