Reading Challenge 2023

A crisp winter morning in New York. In a luxury apartment, the body of a woman lies stretched out on a huge bed. On the wall above, the killer has left a message in bold black ink: FOR LIEUTENANT EVE DALLAS, WITH GREAT ADMIRATION AND UNDERSTANDING.

Eve Dallas is used to unwanted attention. Famous for her high-profile cases and her marriage to billionaire businessman Roarke, she has learned to deal with intense public scrutiny and media gossip. But now Eve has become the object of a singular and deadly obsession. She has an 'admirer', who just can't stop thinking about her. Who is convinced they have a special bond. Who is planning to kill for her - again and again...

With time against her, Eve is forced to play a delicate - and dangerous - psychological dance. Because the killer is desperate for something Eve can never provide - approval. And once that becomes clear, Eve knows her own life will be at risk - along with those she cares about the most.
I don't know what it is with the In Death series, but I can't seem to get enough of them. Yes I'm behind on reviewing them but not reading them. I'm not a huge fan of continual character series. I do admit that I want a new couple with each book. You can have past couples in the story, but I don't care for the same couple over and over. Been there and done that.

So why is it I can't get enough of Eve and Roarke?

I think for me it that's I learn something new about the characters in each book. I just love them all. Each story takes me on a ride that I don't want to get off of until we have the killer(s).

I loved Obsession in Death because we have a direct hit towards Eve. This killer claims to be her biggest fan but we all know they are the ones that want to get noticed. You have the characters in the story that love Eve worried about her and her worried that one of them could be the next one that the killer ends.

The story shows this group at their finest. They are working hard to stop a killer while trying to protect each other. I really loved this story for what it was. Those how are fans of this series will really enjoy this one. We have another great story from an author who has such a way with words.
