Let's Talk About

This year I want to do a new post on Fridays where we can discuss a particular book, author, or anything I can come up with. This week I talked about continual character book series. I hope to hear your thoughts.

Continual Character book series
I have to admit I'm not a massive fan of continual character series. Part of that is because I love romance and prefer having new characters for each book. I don't even care for trilogies that do the same characters. Part of that is what if I don't like some of them. There are some heroes and heroines out there who just plain suck. I sure wouldn't want to read three books worth of them. I will admit freely that I do have one exception to my not liking these types of books and that's J. D. Robb. I love Eve and Roarke.

Characters
As I've mentioned I'm not a fan of all characters so having them the lead hero and heroine in multiple books is like nails on a chalkboard. But for some reason, I love Eve and Roarke from the In Death series. Of course, they might be the lead characters in the books but they aren't the only returning characters. All the recurring character that is in the Robb books is why I love them so much. I always feel like I'm visiting friends.

Do you like them
So I think you're getting just how much I'm not a fan of them for the most part. If you are that's good for you. That's the wonderful part of reading there is a book for everyone. So I might not be a fan of series with the same hero and heroines in it for all but Robb I know there are those who do.

So, are you a fan of them or not?

Comments

  1. I like them both. I like series with different characters in each book or the same couple. It just depends on how its written.
