Review & Giveaway: Claimed by J. R. Ward

Lydia Susi is passionate about protecting wolves in their natural habitat. When a hotel chain develops a tract of land next to the preserve, Lydia is one of the most vocal opponents of the project—and becomes a target.

One night, a shadowy figure threatens Lydia’s life in the forest, and a new hire at the Wolf Study Project comes from out of nowhere to save her. Daniel Joseph is both mysterious, and someone she intrinsically wants to trust. But is he hiding something?

As the stakes get higher, and one of Lydia’s colleagues is murdered, she must decide how far she will go to protect the wolves. Then a shocking revelation about Daniel challenges Lydia’s reality in ways she could never have predicted. Some fates demand courage, others require even more, with no guarantees. Is she destined to have true love... or will a soul-shattering loss ruin her forever?

After starting the last new series by Ward and really enjoying it only for nothing else to come out I was kinda so-so about starting this one. I hate to be left hanging. But I was in the mood for a paranormal and the cover is really good so I thought, what the hell, let's give it a try.

I am so glad I did. It is a great start to her new The Lair of the Wolven series. She better not leave me hanging with this one.

From the start, the story is going and going.

I just loved the characters and enjoyed how the author kept feeding us more and more about the story arc. You really feel like you've gone on a journey with these characters. I really think you'll enjoy the two main characters and I feel most of the book is really only about them with others thrown in to push the story alone.

I will have to say that the only thing I was unhappy with is that the series seems to be mostly about Lydia and Daniel. I sometimes have trouble with the same characters going on and on. Now I'm not 100% about that since I don't know what book two is about but I will say that Claimed ended on a cliffhanger so...

I do think if you enjoy paranormals you'll enjoy this one too. Any of you read her?

  1. My favorite shifter is a polar bear. I read one not too long ago and he was just so fierce and cuddly. I really liked the rat shifters that I read too though. But I need a capybara shifter in a book soon.

I love this authors books and need to get caught up.

    1. I love polar bears too. In fact bears are my jam. Tigers are next on my list. Wolves aren't bad either. It's so easy to get behind on authors.
