Book Club Thursday
Welcome back to #BookClubThursday!
So today for our free day I wasn't sure what I wanted to do. You'd think a free day where you can do whatever you'd like would be perfect. Well, it's not. In fact, it's stressful. Or at least it is for me. So I was thinking about a question that I asked Cyndi on our "Ask" post on Mondays. I asked her how she felt about Series books and if she liked them or was worried to start them because of no guarantee that they will continue and you want to get those characters' stories that you love.
I'm sure we all have a series that abruptly stopped and left us hanging. I know for me there is Kresley Cole and her Immortals After Dark, but I also hate that I haven't had anything from Christine Warren's Alphaville series. I know she's alive because I've seen her comment on Twitter. I guess she just doesn't have time to update her readers.
I get that stuff happens. Publishers drop you, series fail for whatever reason but come on, you can't update those who have bought all your books and followed you sometimes from the small press world? It takes only a second to say, "I'm sorry at this time I'm not writing and don't think I will at any time in the future. If that changes I will let you know" Social Media is made for ghosting.
But if that's how you are going to handle it, the ghosting part, you have to take the fall out with it. Like when you try to get back to publishing a book may it be for big publishers or self-publishing, it can mean you lose a ton of readers.
So, what about you? How do you feel about reading the series? A fan or do you worry you'll get involved and the author will just stop? Share with us your thoughts.
Come back May 6th "Trivia Thursday"
