Book Club Thursday: Golden Oldie

Welcome back to #BookClubThursday!

Golden Oldie
It was her father's dying wish that Samantha Elliot search for her grandmother, who'd disappeared from Louisville when she was a baby. So here she was, in big, dirty New York City...her parents were dead, her divorce was final, and she was all alone... Michael Taggert was Samantha's landlord, and he was easily the most beautiful man she'd ever seen. He was charming, too -- his zest for life was so contagious that in his presence Sam bloomed like a flower after the rain. Yet Mike could only get so far with her -- when he tried to get closer, it was like running into a brick wall.

But Mike wouldn't give up. As they probed her grandmother's past, he was slowly uncovering the joy and affection Samantha had buried long ago -- and leading them closer to the dangerous truth about a bloody spring night in 1928, and a seductive blues singer named Maxie...
When I started back reading romances one of the authors that I loved and ate up is Jude Deveraux. I loved her books so much I'd read the one after another. It didn't matter if they were historical or contemporaries. I just loved them.

This is one of my favorites of hers that still after all this time stands out in my head. I really loved Michael and Samantha. He did all he could to protect her as he helped her on her quest. In fact, he had many of his family involved in the mystery.

Sam really needed Mike in her life he opened her up to life and made her life a bit more exciting. This is a fun book to read but remember that it was published in 1992 so it's a bit dated. I really should go back and read this whole series again. Love them!!!

I'm sure last week when I asked which series was my favorite from Deveraux you all picked this one, right? I guess I should have done these posts in reverse but what fun would that have been. Any of you read her?
Come back on June 18th "Throwback Thursday"
