Juliana St. John was raised to be very proper. After a long engagement, her wedding day dawns—only for Juliana to find herself jilted at the altar.

Fleeing the mocking crowd, she stumbles upon Elliot McBride, the tall, passionate Scot who was her first love. His teasing manner gives her an idea, and she asks Elliot to save her from an uncertain future—by marrying her…

After escaping brutal imprisonment, Elliot has returned to Scotland a vastly wealthy yet tormented man. Now, Juliana, has her hands full restoring his half-ruined manor in the Scottish Highlands and trying to repair the broken heart of the man some call irredeemably mad. Though beautiful and spirited, Juliana wonders if that will be enough to win a second chance at love.

I don't know how I let myself get behind on this series. I really enjoy it but I also do. I'll read one or two of them and then...nothing! One of my goals this year is to get caught up in this series among others.

I really enjoyed this. It deals with a like of dark stuff but handled very well. What was done to Elliot and how he came back is heartbreaking. I do love how those closest to him protect him so strongly. The man that works for him is so loving and caring. You couldn't have a better person in your life.

While poor Elliot is dealing with PTSD Juliana is dealing with being dumped so publicly on the day of her wedding, minutes before it. Talk about a kick in the pants.

How does she handle this...she marries Elliot McBride a man she was already in love with but didn't think she'd ever get.

These two might have married for their own reasons but you soon learn that they aren't bad ones. In fact, they are very well suited to each other. They work well together and pick up where the other needs it.

I really love them as a couple. Juliana stands by Elliot through his darkest moments and he'd do anything for her. She believes him when no one else really would. This is a wonderful love story, one that shouldn't be missed.

You also get to meet new characters that are so funny, plus others that we already love. I know not everyone needs to read series in order but I think they work better that way. I do believe you'll enjoy the whole series so do yourself a favor and pick it up.

Have you read Jennifer Ashley before? If so what did you think?
