Hannah Gallagher is a woman who knows how to get things done – and the annual literacy benefit is no exception. There’s just one problem: her headlining author has canceled. Where can she find a celebrity to fill in, this close to Christmas? It’s just her luck that her brother’s best friend and hockey superstar, Cam Collier, is in town for the holidays. It doesn’t take long for Hannah to imagine him reading to kids at the local library – and all that money pouring in.

Sidelined with his second concussion, Cam takes the opportunity to spend Christmas with his family. He’s barely in town twenty-four hours when Hannah Gallagher hits him up to do a charity event, and Cam knows he must decline. Of course, Hannah doesn’t understand his reasons…because he’s holding onto a secret that he’s never shared with anyone. He’ll make it up to her, though, by donating an amazing item for the silent auction. And the fact that he gets to spend time with his best friend’s hot older sister is a definite perk.

Things are heating up between them, and it looks like this is destined to be a sizzling holiday fling. Especially as Cam’s health is improving and he’s counting the days until he can rejoin his team. But then feelings get in the way…and fears, too. Can they move past their insecurities to change this Christmas to remember to a Christmas that lasts forever?
I can't believe this is the last #ReadingChallenge for the year. I love doing this post once a month and I hope that you'll join us next year. Just so you can get a jump on it if you are going to join us here are the three groups, Clearing off the Bookshelves, Readers Choice and Covers that are going to stay the same. We aren't going to do Must Do next year.

This is the series that got me into reading Donna Alward. I really loved this series and was sad when there wasn't anymore. When I saw that she was going to have a holiday book in Darling VT I was so thrilled.

I really enjoy that little town.

So we are now ready for the girls of the Gallagher family to find love. You can't see me but I'm rubbing my hands together that's how excited I was.

I loved Hannah from the minute you meet her. She's the one family member that seems to be totally put together. She has her life in order and works hard within her business. She loves her town and does all she can for it.

But she's also standoffish.

I knew there had to be a good reason she is the way she is and when you read her story you really get the feeling of who Hannah is. There is so much more to her than what she shows everyone.  At times I wanted to give her a hug. What I loved about her and that she felt bad about how her life was going but she didn't take it out on others.

You'll also love Cam. He has secrets of his own and the way he revealed them to the world was so sweet and loving. He is a super nice guy who's not a player (like the play on words?) which I liked about him. Hannah doesn't need a man that will be in her bed one night and someone else the next.

These two just work. The funny part is that he figured it out before she did. Love when that happens. So often the woman falls in love and has to wait on the guy doing the same thing. I love when it's in reverse.

Merry Christmas, Darling is full of good cheer and the Gallaghers. I think you'll really enjoy it. But do yourself a favor and for Christmas get the other books in the series and read them in order. Yes, this can be read as a standalone but I think you'll enjoy it more knowing the family and Hannah from the beginning.

Have you ever read, Donna Alward? If so do you have a favorite book or series of hers?
