Just Because (Off the Reader's Choice list)
Christmas may be coming, but it's just another day at the ranch as far as Eli Pickett is concerned. Someone has to take care of the herd and that means no holiday vacation for him. But that's just the way he likes it--it’s not like he has a woman to spend time with anyways. Most women don't want the ranch life, or the surly, silent cowboy that comes with it. Fine with him. He'd rather have the quiet of a roaring fire and the company of his dogs.

Cassandra Horn is trying to make it to her parents' winter cabin in Wyoming before the blizzard hits. She desperately needs a vacation from the chaos of Manhattan...and her boss’s boyfriend, who is making her life miserable. But Cass never makes it to the cabin.

A raging snowstorm causes her car to crash, where she's found unconscious by Eli. When Cass wakes, she has no memories of who she is. Eli takes one look at Cass's big blue eyes and dark curls, and like a Christmas miracle, falls head over heels in love. But while the attraction is mutual, can she give her heart to this cowboy if she’s not sure it’s hers to give?
We all know why this is a "Just Becuase" challenge for me. I'm doing a just because it's  Christmas in July! How could I not review a holiday-themed book? Well, I couldn't.

Jessica Clare is a newer author for me. I have to admit I think I read something by her but I'm not 100% sure. Which doesn't say much for what I could have read. Not that I let it reflect on this book. I went into this one like I've never read her, of course, I might not have. I do love a mystery.

I saw this one as I was walking around Sam's Club. That was before my Sam's Club got rid of most of there romance other than Nora Roberts and Debbie Macomber. Bastards! It was sitting on my shelf for a while and I finally decided that maybe I should give a try.

I'm pleased that I did. The story is written with mostly only the hero and heroine. Only a few other characters make a quick visit in it. At first, I wasn't sure how I felt about that but then I fell into the story and forgot all about my worry.

I really liked both Eli and Cass. They are both special characters in their own way. Eli dark and mysteries. You can't help but wonder about him. You get flashes of a wonderful sweet caring guy that he is. Too bad he tries to hide it throughout the book.

I also enjoyed Cass too. She really has a crappy working environment and should quit. As she spends time with Eli you can see how close these two get. They are great together and it's sad that it took them so long to figure that out. I really enjoyed this wonderful holiday story and can't wait to read more of Clare.

Have any of you read her? What's your favorite book if you have?
