WTF Friday

This is something new we (myself along with Born to Read Books) are doing this year. It's where we ask...wtf about something that's bothering us. Fun right! So here is what I want to talk about today.

Where have all the books gone?

I know for some that this sounds crazy, I know there is a ton of books out there. Let me explain. Back in the day, I'm going back say 5-6 years ago, maybe less, I'd be buying 25-30 books in a month. Maybe not every month but the numbers were always over 18 books. Now I'm lucky if I get 8 books in a month. I looked at May and I had 11. A high number for the year, still less than what I use to buy.

I don't know if it's because my favorite authors have written less or moved on to other things but...In fact, this year is the first year in a while that all I've had time to read is the latest books out. I am having fun reading what I have laying around.

Because I use to buy so much is why I have so many to read. Don't get me wrong, there are tons of good authors out there that I read, I just don't buy as many as I use too. Heck, I don't review as many ARC's as I did just last year.

What about you? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. Do you feel fewer books are being published, or is it that many of my favorite authors have moved on and I haven't found new ones?

  1. I buy less because I get so many ARCs. Plus I agree, some of favorite authors either don't write as much, or anymore or changed how they write.

    1. Because of the amount of ARC's I got I found myself falling in love with new to me authors and than going a buying their prior books so I was still getting a lot. Now...

  2. I buy less because I get ARC's of books I really want and I find a few freebies that are great. I also win a few books each month and that helps as well. So I still get the same amount of books but I'm not buying all of them.

    1. I'm way down even with the ARC's I'm getting. It's kinda sad but I'm also getting some of the series I've fallen behind on read so there is a plus.
