Review: The Duke's Perfect Wife by Jennifer Ashley

Lady Eleanor Ramsay is the only one who knows the truth about Hart Mackenzie. Once his fiancee, she is the sole woman to whom he could ever pour out his heart.

Hart has it all—a dukedom, wealth, power, influence, whatever he desires. Every woman wants him—his seductive skills are legendary. But Hart has sacrificed much to keep his brothers safe, first from their brutal father, and then from the world. He's also suffered loss—his wife, his infant son, and the woman he loved with all his heart though he realized it too late.

Now, Eleanor has reappeared on Hart's doorstep, with scandalous nude photographs of Hart taken long ago. Intrigued by the challenge in her blue eyes—and aroused by her charming, no-nonsense determination—Hart wonders if his young love has come to ruin him... or save him.

For me more often than not Jennifer Ashley is a comfort read. I've been into her shifters for a while now and I also enjoy her historical's but I let myself get behind on them as you can see. No good reason other than too many books to read and not enough time. This year I am trying my best to get some cleared off the shelves.

You see, I've been buying the Ashely's as they come out so I have like 9 more to read. I know, so badly done of me.

The scariest part of having all those books is that I love reading in order and this one I had a bit of trouble getting into. Another reason I'm so far behind on the series. I kept putting it down and then coming back to it at a later time. This happened for years. I think I knew I was having trouble and that stopped me from getting farther into the book.

This time I went in with a plan. Read it till the end even if you have to speed read it. With that plan in mind, I started and passed the spot that dragged me down to unfinished hell.

I am so happy that I finally did. I ended up enjoying the rest of the story.

You really learn so much more about the real Hart in this story. Yes, from the past books you get the feeling of how strong he is mentally and physically, but you don't really understand it until his book. I'm still not sure if we got the total Hart experience.

Now Elenore is different. She puts it out there for all to see. She's such a fun character. One you can't help but really enjoying. She's perfect for Hart. He might not know it or should I say, admit it but he loves her and you see that at the end of the book.

These two have wasted so much time with just not sharing their feelings and talking about all their issues with each other. I guess if they had we wouldn't have had their story so...

This is a wonderful series and tons of interactions with past characters (Hart's brothers) so do yourself a favor and read the books in order. You will understand these guys so much more. It makes each story richer.

So, have you read her before? If so what are some of your favorite stories of hers?

  1. I do love this series from her but haven't done this one yet. She has so many books it's easy to get behind. Whew.

    1. I know what you mean. I'm trying to get caught up now that we don't have a shifter one out from her.
