Sunday Spotlight

This year we, myself along with Born to Read Books are doing a few new posts. I love changing things up and around. From now on Sunday's will be Sunday spotlight, where I will talk about all things books or share a book with you.

This week I want to talk about 1st person vs 3rd person

So...what kind of reader are you? I love 3rd person books. I enjoy feeling like I'm part of the story. Not just the heroine, but everyone in the book. I want to be absorbed into it.

With 1st person I feel like I'm dealing with one pain in the ass person who thinks they are more important then others.

Of course maybe I feel that way because I only read romance. I like knowing what both the characters are thinking. Sometimes we don't say what we should. Reading in the 3rd person makes the story more complete for me.

I've heard others who like 1st person argue that in the real world you don't often know what's inside someone's head. True, but fiction isn't the real world.

So share with us all your thoughts on this. I'd love to know.

  1. I like 3rd person more than 1st person, I feel like you see more sides to the story unless its a dual POV which is rare because even in dual POV, its normally from the heroines perspective and not so much the heroe's so I do prefer 3rd person and when I started reading romance it was uncommon for 1st person anyway, and so 3rd person is what I am the most comfortable with.

    1. I am too. I really love getting lost in the story and can't with 1st. I get 1st person for general fiction but not romance. Romance is about two people, not one.

  2. That's an interesting question. I really don't mind either way. As long as the story is good, I really don't care either way.
