All Mandy Carson wants for Christmas is a distraction…and maybe a date to her friend’s New Year’s Eve wedding. Ghosts from the past always loom larger this time of year, and Mandy’s having a hard time faking her usual fun-loving demeanor. But when her much-needed distraction arrives in the form of the man who rocked her world the long-ago night of their junior prom, she’s forced to confront the painful scars that caused her to bolt back in high school.

Wildlife rescuer Calvin Rocha always regretted letting Mandy slip out of his life, so when fate brings them together on a snowy mountain road with an injured hawk on Christmas Eve, he’s determined to make the most of this second chance. He agrees to be her wedding date, hoping the romantic weekend will bring them back together. And as the clock counts down to midnight, Cal and Mandy might just discover that the best gift they’ll receive this season is each other.

If you haven't yet enjoyed a book by Rachel Lacey I don't know what you are waiting for. She writes wonderful stories that suck you into them.

My Gift to you is like a crossover book. It's part of her Risking it All series but also touches on her newest series, Almost Royal. I can honestly say I enjoyed the Risking it All series and read the first book in the Almost Royal series and can't wait for more.

I really liked how the author messed these two series. Most of the book in the charcters from Risking it All with just a touch of the other series. Enough to wet your whistle.

I really liked Calvin right from the beginning. He's such a sweet guy. The fact that he works with animals is a turn on right away but that he's also just a nice guy adds to the allure. You just want to know him.

Mandy is a little different. She's slightly closed off and doesn't think highly of herself. Of course once you get into her story you know why she is the way she is. Mandy needs someone like Calvin who makes her feel important. Like number one.

This is a quick story but you don't feel like you are missing anything. Would I have been happy if this was a full size book instead of a novella size, yes. But since the story doesn't suffer from it's length and I'm just being selfish because I really enjoyed this series and want more, it's worth the read.

I will tell you that you don't have to read the other books in either series to enjoy this one but...yep, you know how I am. I like to read the books in order. I promise you'll enjoy them. If you don't have the time at least read Rock with You since it's their wedding in this book.

Have you read My Gift to You or any other book by Rachel Lacey? If so I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for visiting and happy reading! ♡
