Second Chance Cowboy
Crossroads Ranch
A. J. Pine
February 27, 2018
Forever Romance
Genre: Contemporary
Pages: 320
Format Read: Paperback
Source: Purchased

Ten years ago, Jack Everett left his family's ranch without a backward glance. Now, what was supposed to be a quick trip home for his father's funeral has suddenly become more complicated. The ranch Jack can handle---he might be a lawyer, but he still remembers how to work with his hands. But turning around the failing vineyard he's also inherited? That requires working with the one woman he never expected to see again.

Ava Ellis broke her own heart the night she let Jack go. She was young and scared---and secretly pregnant with Jack's baby. Now that he's back and asking for her help, Ava sees her opportunity to right the wrongs of the past. But how will he feel about the son he's never known? Could this be their second chance---or their final heartbreak?

I always love finding new authors. Sometimes they work out for me other times they don't. I really hate when they don't. What can I say I having a problem with wanting to read and buy everything. Thankfully the fact that I don't love every author saves my wallet some much needed money.

A. J. Pine is a new author to me. When I first saw the cover of Second Chance Cowboy I knew I needed to try her. Which was surprising to me because if you follow me closely you know I'm not the hugest fan of second chance romances.

But even with that fact I decided to give it a try and I'm glad I did. I really enjoyed Second Chance Cowboy. Did I also mention that there is a hidden child part to this too? Yep, another thing I'm not a huge fan with. Unless he's a killer then you tell the person they have a child, it's only right.

Besides these things I was happy with the story. I think the author handled both the hidden child and second chance romance very well. I think that was because the hero right away understood why she didn't tell him about his kid.

Because of the fact that these two really cared about each other the story worked. The romance and the hidden kid was the easiest part of this story. Jack and Ava clicked and wanted to make sure that Jack was now part of his sons life. Them getting back together was a perk for them both.

The part that caused all the drama in the book was Jack and his brothers. These three have a ton of issues with each other and their father. I loved the conflict between them along with those moments where you see how much they care about each other. Their issues are the reason I want to read the other books. I need to see them happy. Silly reason I know but I think if you try Second Chance Cowboy you'll understand where I'm coming from.

The one thing and maybe the only thing I didn't care for was Ava's dad. He was a asshole and in my eyes never changed. I'd love to say more but I don't want to ruin anything for you. I just don't care for people who judge others without knowing them or the situation.

If you've read Second Chance Cowboy or any other books by A. J. Pine I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for visiting and happy reading! ♡

  1. Nice review. I too am not a fan of hidden baby/child tropes but I'm okay with second chances.

    1. I will admit she did a good job on both which made it easier to read.
