Romancing the Readers: Joint Review

Welcome back to Book Club Thursday

This week we are doing our Joint Review. That means you get one book and two opinions.

One and Only
Bridesmaids Behaving Badly #1
Jenny Holiday
February 27, 2018
Forever Romance
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Pages: 337
Format Read: Paperback
Source: Purchased

With her bridezilla friend on a DIY project rampage, bridesmaid Jane Denning will do anything to escape - even if it means babysitting the groom's troublemaker brother before the wedding. It should be a piece of cake, except the "cake" is a sarcastic former soldier who is 100% wicked hotness and absolutely off-limits.

Cameron MacKinnon is ready to let loose after returning from his deployment. But first he'll have to sweet talk the ultra-responsible Jane into taking a walk on the wild side. Turns out, riling her up is the best time he's had in years. But what happens when the fun and games start to turn into something real?

I'm going to admit to you that I started this book at a very bad time. My mom has been very ill and we've spent the month at the hospital with her. As I sat in waiting rooms waiting to hear things I started reading One and Only.

At first I really couldn't get into it. I thought I was missing something. I was lost in the writing. I figured it was the stress in what was going on causing me to miss something. At least I was hoping that was it.

But since I needed to get it done and plowed on.

Turns out that it wasn't the writing I just didn't care for how the book started. I went back and read the beginning to make sure I hadn't read it wrong. I hadn't. The start of the story was off for me but did pick up and even out.

I just loved all the diy stuff the bride was doing. As a fan of Pinterest I could see myself doing it all too.

I very much like Jane. She might not have been very flashy, and at times she was judgy, but for the most part very likable.

I also really liked Cam too. I didn't care how his brother thought of him at times. People change and you need to sometimes realize that. Cam has worked very hard to be a better person. With Jane he was also a person who could see his future.

By the end of the story I was so glad that I read it. I loved it and the whole idea of the story. This shows that sometimes you have to give a book a few chapters before you judge it. I'm very much looking forward to the other books coming out.

If you've read One and Only I'd love to hear your thoughts. Make sure to stop by Born to Read Books and see what they thought of it. Thanks for visiting and happy reading! ♡
