Edith Drummond owes her life to Niels Buchanan and his brothers. Waking after an illness to a castle overrun by rugged Highlanders is disconcerting, but so is learning that she’s slowly being poisoned. Niels insists on staying by her side, and Edith soon discovers that even more dangerous is her wild attraction to the fierce warrior.

Niels has never met a more courageous—or enticing—woman than Lady Edith. The idea of such a bonny lass being forced to enter a nunnery is more than any red-blooded Scotsman could bear. He’ll gladly marry her himself. But while sweeping her off her feet is easy, it’ll take all his skill to defeat her family’s relentless enemies, and convince her to surrender to his sweet embrace.

For me Lynsay Sands is one of those authors that I'm always happy to read, especially her historical's. I don't read historical's like I use to but when I do I want to read a story that's part romance, humor, stand out characters and a good story to pull it all together.

Sands does that for me. I always love her humor. It's helped me get over a bad mood more then once. I know, I sound like a pissy person of course I not...most of the time. Ha! I've just been reading Sands for a very long time.

I was so thrilled that we were getting more of the Buchanan brothers. I just love them. They crack me up. They are all so hot and really great guys. But what really does it for me is how they treat each other. Sure they pick on each other and give each other a hard time but what they don't do is turn on each other. They stand with their brothers, not against.

A great, loving family. I guess I should mention the sister too. Love her also!

This time we are reading Niels story. In the beginning I wasn't sure what I thought about him and how he was going to be for Edith. Shortly after the story started I figured out just how much I liked him and how perfect he was for her.

Edith needs someone strong but yet is there for her to lean on when needed. Niels is the perfect person to do that. He supported her throughout the story while still protecting her, even from herself at times.

I know I've made the story seem so lighthearted and sunshiny, well it's not all that. There is a good mystery running through it that keeps you wondering till the end. This is the perfect weekend read.

I will mention that you should really read this series in order. It helps will the character building. You really get to know them. Plus the series is really a good one that I think you'll enjoy!

If you've read Surrender to the Highlander or any other book by Lynsay Sands I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for visiting and happy reading! ♡

    1. You can tell she must be a funny person because the humor never feels forced, it's very natural.
