Book Club Thursday: Remember When

Welcome back to Book Club Thursday!

Today we are doing our....

So here I sit trying to come up with a "Remember When" post. No, they aren't that hard, I just never know what to write. So as I was saying, I was sitting here thinking about this weeks post when I though back to the days when all I did was read for myself, you know back when the dinosaur's roamed the earth!

It feels like it's been that long.

Back I would say 20 years that's all I did was read for me. Sometimes I would talk about the books I read with friends but for the most part it was just me.

Then one day I got a job at a new/used bookstore and my whole reading world opened up. I still read like crazy but now I had so many people to share my love for books with. I've made so many good friends, ones that I still have to this day. I joined a book club (you the ones you physically get together for) and still after all these years get together with them.

I started to go to book signings and conventions. Life was good.

Then the day came when the store I worked with closed and I wondered how that would change how I felt about books? Would I still read as much, talk to friends about the books I love? Not working at the bookstore was like losing a part of myself.

Sad and feeling down I applied for a Avon Addict. I never thought in a million years I'd be picked. My life as a reader was only about reading and selling books. I never really reviewed them other then to verbally tell a customer what I was enjoying or not. But what the hell, you only live once.

Guess what? I got picked to be a Avon Addict!

I know, crazy right? At this point I had never blogged in my life. So I wasn't sure how I could help them. I had thought about blogging but I was always worried that my reviews wouldn't sound good, or I'd come off sounding like I didn't know what I was doing.

Which I didn't!

With my heart full of fear and a pretty good stomachache I started my blog. Through the years (5 of them) I've grown as a blogger and learned more and more about it, thanks to so many wonderful fellow bloggers who have shared their wisdom.

I've now found a new community of people to talk about books. I'm loving it and I'm so lucky to be able to spend so much of my time doing something I just love.

Of course, I still remember when I read just for me!

What about you, what's your reading world like? I'd love to hear your journey into reading! Thanks for visiting and happy reading! ♡

  1. Books and a love for reading will always be one of those things that I think can bring people together.

  2. I didn't start reading romance until I was in my 20's and my mom brought over a huge box of books that she'd read. I didn't think I'd read them but I picked up one and that was it for me, I read them all and I was hooked. Back then I didn't have a computer and so I just talked to my mom about the books. Later when I got a computer and made my blog and started reviewing a few books on it, I also found other blogs that talked about books.
