As one of the Embraced―one born with magical powers―the beautiful, innocent Luciana escaped certain death after her father hid her away on the Isle of Moon. Now, nineteen years later, her father has returned with a frightening request. He will be executed unless Luciana returns to the mainland and marries a man feared throughout the land: a terrifying brute known as the Beast.

Luciana accepts her fate and agrees to wed the Beast―Lord Leo―in order to save her father. Soon she learns that her betrothed is also one of the Embraced. With the ability to wield lightning, Leo’s immense power strikes fear into the hearts of men. . .and his mere touch can put an end to a woman’s life. But Luciana cannot deny the passion that burns between them. How can she resist the man who scorches her soul and makes her feel intoxicated with desire―even if surrendering to him could destroy them both?

When I really enjoy a series I hate to see it end. And I really loved Spark's Love at Stakes series. So when she started a new series I was both excited and worried. When you live with one group of characters for so long it's like losing a limb when they are no longer in your life. Okay, I'm exaggerating here a little. It would be horrible to lose a limb, this is just sad.

But because I do really like her writing I decided to give this new series a try. And I'm glad I did. I really like this series and the new characters in my life.

You will find the same great humor in this new series as the old one. One of the biggest differences is that this series is a historical. I'm not always such a fan of paranormal historical's. They are kind of limiting. Saying that, I didn't seem to miss the more contemporary feel.

I think that's due to the fact that she's a very good writer. She draws you into the story and you forget all the other crap.

I really loved both Luciana & Leo. They are perfect together. Not only because of the lightening thing. Not telling you more about it. ha! They need each other and I like how they come to that decision. There are so many very good characters in this book. And some very sad moments too. You really will find this very enjoyable.

The only thing I wish is that they got together sooner in the book. I also wish the ending would have been more towards the middle of the book. But you can't always get what you want. Even with those minor issues for me I still really enjoyed the story and can't wait for the next book in the series So I Married a Sorcerer, out on 8/29. Since there is so much time before the next book comes out you have all summer to read her other serie if you haven't yet read it. Believe me, you'll be glad you did.

If you've read How to Tam a Beast in Seven Days or any other book by Kerrelyn Sparks I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for visiting and happy reading! ♡

  2. I loved this book. I agree with a comment I read saying this has a Princess Bride like sense of humor. I have a minor(very minor) issue with some thing but you'll have to wait till I post my review to read all about it. Lol

    1. It is. But it's done so you don't really notice that fact over the good story.
