A limo driver is shot through the neck with a crossbow. Then a high-priced escort is found stabbed through the heart with a bayonet. Eve begins to fear that she has come across that most dangerous of criminal, a thrill-killer, but one with a taste for the finer things in life—and death.
As time runs out on another innocent victim’s life, Eve’s investigation will take her into the rarified circle that her husband Roarke travels in—and into the perverted heart of madness...

Due to how far behind I am on this series you'd never know that I used to read them right away. Then they went hardcover and I fell a little bit behind. Because of which of the challenges I used, you know that's not the only reason. I also couldn't get into this one.
Six years later I finally finished it. I can't tell you over the years how many times I picked it up to read it and only got into the first chapter and then put it down again to read something else.
I can't even tell you why.
I just didn't like the beginning of this book. It killed me (ha-ha) to read this book. It wasn't even that I didn't like the story, because I did. I just....
It really sucks when you can't put into words what you are thinking. Which isn't really good when your a reviewer. All I can say is that for some reason this book didn't work for me. I of course love the characters, they are what make the books, and I liked the whole idea of the story.
It's is the perfect addition to the In Death series and I'm sure others will very much enjoy it. I'm really hoping that they next one I will be able to get into easier. Fingers crossed!
If you've read Indulgence In Death or anything else by J. D. Robb I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for visiting and happy reading! ♡
3/2/17 Remember When
I hate when that happens. And it's happened more than I like, even with favorite authors.
ReplyDeleteI does. I know I've told you before how hard it was for me to read this one. Fingers crossed for the next one.
DeleteI am so glad that you were able to pick up a book again. The beginning can really set the tone if you will enjoy it or not. Glad it happened eventually for you with this one.
ReplyDeleteI so does. I just was put off by it. In the end it all worked but that was a long road.
DeleteI am so behind on this series. It's sad because I really liked them but I'm afraid if I was just picked up now with some of the more current books in the series I would be lost
ReplyDeleteI would go back to the next book in the series. I have a feeling things are going to change some. Not sure what. I'm behind by like 10 books so I'm hoping to get caught up some day.
