Take Me Home for Christmas
A Whiskey Creek Novel #5
Brenda Novak
10/29/13
Harlequin Mira

Christmas is a time for remembering…

Too bad not all memories are pleasant! Everyone in Whiskey Creek remembers Sophia DeBussi as the town’s Mean Girl. Especially Ted Dixon, whose love she once scorned.

But Sophia has paid the price for her youthful transgressions. The man she did marry was rich and powerful but abusive. Then he goes missing—and she soon learns that he died running from an FBI probe of his investment firm. Not only has he left Sophia penniless, he’s left her to face all the townspeople he cheated….

Sophia is reduced to looking for any kind of work to pay the bills and support her daughter. With no other options, she accepts a job as housekeeper for Ted, now a successful suspense writer. He can’t turn his back on her, but he refuses to get emotionally involved.

Will Christmas, the season of love and forgiveness, bring them another chance at happiness?

I don't think I've ever read a Brenda Novak (the Whiskey Creek Series) that when I finished reading it that it didn't make me feel like my emotions had been on a roller-coaster ride. I felt like laughing, crying & yelling at the characters all in the same paragraph.

That's what this series has done to me. Makes me crazy!

Take Me Home for Christmas is book #5 in the Whiskey Creek Series. If you haven't yet read this series you really must. I'd say to read them in order becasue in a way they are all connected. The series is romance but in a way it also lends to women's fiction. Either way, I love it.

From the second the characters started talking about Sophia DeBussi (in prior books) I knew I needed her story. I wondered how I could ever like such a mean girl. Because I don't want to give too much of the story away, (you really need to read it for yourself) let's just say that people change because of their life choices.

The book wouldn't have been so good if it wasn't for Ted Dixon. He's really a great stand up guy. He was there for Sophia and her daughter when they very much needed him. She also had Eve, who really was there for her but that didn't totally turn out great. You really need to read this story to know why.

I have to say that most of the town was horrible to Sophia and her daughter. Talk about blaming the innocent because the guilty is not around. It made me so mad! I know, you really want to read it now don't you?

But like they say, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Brenda Novak did a wonderful job of making her characters jump off the pages of her book and making them real! You really need to read this series.

If you've read Take Me Home for Christmas or any other book by Brenda Novak I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for visiting and happy reading! 💓
