Size Matters
A Perfect Fit #1

Forever
Leah Martin has spent her life trying to avoid temptation. But she's sick of low-fat snacks, counting calories, and her hyper-critical mom. Fortunately, her popular new bakery keeps her good and distracted. But there aren't enough éclairs in the world to distract Leah from the hotness that is Sam Cooper - or the fact that he just told her mother that they're engaged...which is a big, fat lie.
Sam sometimes speaks before he thinks. So what started out as defending Leah's date-ability to her judgmental mother soon turned into having a fiancée! Now the plan is to keep up the fake engagement, stay "just friends," and make Leah's family loathe him enough to call the whole thing off. But Sam has an insatiable sweet tooth, not only for Leah's decadent desserts but her decadent curves. Her full lips. Her bright green eyes. Yep, things aren't going quite according to plan. Now Sam has to convince Leah that he's for real...before their little lie turns into one big, sweet disaster.
I can't believe we are on our last reading challenge. I've had a great year and read so many good books. We will be sharing next years reading challenge next week. So many good challenges coming next year. I'm really looking forward to it.
Enough about that, let's talk about my last pick. The only reading challenge theme I had left was Read a Book Recommended by a Friend. Now this should be very easy but here's the difficult part, most of the time when a friend mentions something to me I jump on and review it right away which meant I would have to wait for someone else to mention something that would be good for the challenge only for me to read and review outside Book Club Thursday.
This is why this theme turned out to be my last challenge. Finally I picked a book and put it aside until I was read to read it for Book Club Thursday. No change of messing up for me.
I heard about Size Matters by Allison Bliss from Anna over at Herding Cats & Burning Soup great blog to follow! Me kept quoting the book and I knew I needed to try it.
I'm really glad I did. Sometimes with plus size heroines you go into the story thinking that the heroine will have some weight on her and instead she's a size ten. Now don't get me wrong I might have been reading the wrong books but...
What I really liked is the cover model. She seems to fit perfectly for the heroine. I'm so happy that the publisher made sure that happened.
You'll love both Leah and Sam. Right away you can tell that they work. The comments that they pass back and forth are so funny. I've never read this author before and found her humor to match mine. I laughed more then once.
As much as I really enjoyed the story and the characters I did have a few issues with the story. I did feel like the author sometimes focused to much on the weight issue and Leah's feelings about it. Once in a while I felt like the author was beating a dead horse.
Even my feelings about that didn't stop me from liking the book. For everyone that ever felt uncomfortable about themselves should give this book a read.
If you've read Size Matters or any other book by Alison Bliss I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for visiting and happy reading!
December 29th a look at what's coming for the new year for Book Club Thursday
I loved this book and agree with your comment about the cover and how at times a non plus size is used for a plus size both in cover and writing.
ReplyDeleteI really loved the cover. It was perfect.

ReplyDeleteThis year has been quite fun right? So many great books came out.
ReplyDeleteI've had a great time reading this year. I added a ton of new authors to my list.
DeleteI am adding this to my buy list and it is nice to see the cover with the right size model. Nice pick!
ReplyDeleteYou'll enjoy it. I really did.
DeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed it, Ann! I really liked her humor, too. And I agree with you no her weight issues. I thought they were handled well but, yes, I wanted her to have some progress thought-wise quicker than she did. It was still a lot of fun, though, and I can't wait for the next one :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait for the next one too. Thanks for talking about it and getting my interest piqued.
