Book Club Thursday: WTF Moments
Welcome back to Book Club Thursday!
This week we are doing a theme post and that theme post is...
WTF Moments!
I will admit that when we selected this post theme I was oh yeah...I hate...well guess what? Now that I'm writing the post NOTHING is coming to mind. How do I let this happen. Please don't answer me, I know how it happened.
I should have been writing things down as they happened, but instead I just picked up the next book and went on reading!
I don't often have those moments when I reading WTF! I think it's because I usually love what I'm reading and when I don't, unless it's for a review, I stop reading it.
One thing that kind of makes me think, WTF is when you have this great trained hero who can really kick butt and the heroine decided she doesn't need him to protect her, she can take care of herself.
Really?
And then what does she do when she's told she can't? She sure doesn't say...'you are right, I can't even shoot a gun, let alone run fast in heels' no...she turns into a raving BITCH!
Speaking of Bitches...
Another thing I hate is when the heroines in a book feel that they need to be a total bitch to be seen as tough.
Why?
You don't need to be a bitchy to be a tough bitch! Being strong is all about how you conduct yourself. I find that women that are bitchy usually are trying to cover up for their insecurities and unhappiness.
What about you? What are your WTF moments that you hate in the books that you read? Thanks for visiting and happy reading!
July 7th Clearing Off the Shelves
This topic was harder than I thought it would be. It took me a while to come up with something, too. Now that it's over, tons of things are coming to mind!
ReplyDeleteIsn't that how it always happens. I'm just glad I came up with something.
DeleteI'll admit, when I picked it I was excited but then...yeah I was like drawing a bit of a blank but that didn't last too long! LOL I agree with what you said here- I do an eye roll when heroines equate bitch with tough OR if a tough heroine is viewed by others as a bitch.
ReplyDeleteIt good to push us out of our comfort zone. This post did! I had a hell of a time coming up with something.
Deleteoh I definitely agree!! Some of the strongest heroines I have read....are the least bitchy types. Those drive me crazy, because its apparent that they are covering up insecurities. My biggest pet peeve is selfish heroines---they drive me up the wall. Great post.
ReplyDeleteI am so with you. Let me tell you if someone was trying to kill me I wouldn't have to think twice about getting someone to protect me. Hell, I'd sleep in the middle of the police station until he was caught.
DeleteI HATE when heroines do that. Drives me batty. Gah!
ReplyDeleteHaha! I know you do. I just don't get it...why act that way?
