Centuries ago, the vampire race was almost destroyed. Now, salvation rests upon one - the last true vampire.

For centuries, Jenner has been plagued by the shadows of his past. Now, a newly-turned vampire, he stalks the night like a wild predator, unable to satisfy his insatiable desires. Until a beautiful vampire sets his soul on fire...

Bria is pure innocence, hidden her whole life from a merciless enemy determined to hunt her down. When things become perilous, safety comes in the form of a fearsome bodyguard - Jenner.

One fateful night, Bria is saved by her vampire protector and a blazing connection is sparked. But surrendering to the powerful call of passion means breaking free from the shackles of their pasts. And with the war against the slayers more savage than ever, they must fight to survive. For the vampire race depends on it.

I will admit in the last few years I've been off my vampires. I just haven't been feeling them. I've stuck with a few old favorites but other then that, I haven't read anyone new in a very long time.

That is until I found Kate Baxter.

I was sent a review copy of her The Last True Vampire and just feel in love with this series. I found it well written with likable characters and ton of humor. We all know how much I love humor in my books.

I need it!

For me each book has gotten better and better. I'm really invested in this world. I want to know what happens next the second I finish the book I'm reading.

You couldn't ask for a better story then that!

You get to know Jenner slightly in the prior book. It's enough to want to know more. I was really intrigued by him. He had a huge chip on his shoulder and I wanted to know why?

Oh boy did I learn out why!

When I started The Dark Vampire I found myself right away falling for Jenner. Yes, he has a past, but I wasn't sure if I believed it totally. Sometimes we blow up things and make them bigger then they are.

When I learn what happened his Jenner's past I was like...well! But I didn't think that one act defined him. There is so much more to him and you learn that in this book.

Now Bria is a different story. I wanted to like like her but she acted like what I hate so much in heroines.

She has a attribute of...I can take care of myself and I don't need anyone's help! More then once she mentions being able to take care of herself. I got tired of hearing it. As the book moves she does grow up some but never enough for me.

I didn't hate her as a character, just felt she was immature. I even got why. That's why I gave her such a long rope.

As a whole I enjoyed The Dark Vampire very much and even with a few issues found it to be such a good story. Now I have to sit here and wait for the next book to be out...I wish I knew when!!!!

If you've read The Dark Vampire or any other book by Kate Baxter I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks for visiting and happy reading!
