Hard Ink Series #3

Blurb
Caught between desire and loyalty… Derek DiMarzio would do anything for the members of his disgraced Special Forces team—sacrifice his body, help a former teammate with a covert operation to restore their honor, and even go behind enemy lines. He just never expected to want the beautiful woman he found there.

When a sexy stranger asks questions about her brother, Emilie Garza is torn between loyalty to the brother she once idolized and fear of the war-changed man he’s become. Derek’s easy smile and quiet strength tempt Emilie to open up, igniting the desire between them and leading Derek to crave a woman he shouldn’t trust.

As the team’s investigation reveals how powerful their enemies are, Derek and Emilie must prove where their loyalties lie before hearts are broken and lives are lost. Because love is too hard to come by to let slip away…

My Thoughts...

So far this series has been a wonderful ride. You won't be able to not love the characters. You couldn't hope to find a nice bunch of guys. They are smart, sexy and oh so caring. Hard to Come By is book 3 of the Hard Ink Series. Up to now I've loved every book and can't wait for the next one.

Of course when I read Hard to Come By I knew we were getting closer to the end of the series so it broke my heart a little. But I also wanted to see how the author would end it all.

Up this time we have Derek DiMarzio, one of my favorite of the male characters (I say that with each book) What happened to him when the shit hit the fan oversea was a tough break. But he didn't let it get him down. He was able to pull himself up, and face life head on.

Emilie, Emilie, Emilie...out of all the characters in the series I think I felt the sorriest for her. Which is saying a lot because the women and Charlie go though some tough times. They seem to have everything rain down on them.

But when it has to do with family, blood family, it's more heart breaking. We never want to think of those that share the same blood as us doing anything against us.

I'm sure if Emilie didn't have Derek to stand by her side it would have been harder, but she did. These two as a couple make sense. The fill in the empty space for the other.

If you've read the Hard Ink Series you know the main story line runs from book to book. Each one contains its own love story, but they also push the main plot forward. Kaye does a wonderful job balancing the two. You don't feel either suffers from not enough attention.

I will tell you that you really should read this series in order. Because of that  main plot that runs from each book to the other. It will make the last book even better if you do so. Either way you'll get a great story. (just not as great :) )

I'd love to hear from any of you who have read this series. What do you think about it? For those who haven't yet read the series, what are you waiting for? Happy reading!
