Book Club Thursday: Review Any Historical

Welcome back to Book Club Thursday!

Today we are doing a review post. The great part is that we get to pick any historical to read. I read to my book shelves and ereader and started looking. I have tons of books that I haven't read yet. So I had so many to pick from.

And my pick is....

Plaid to the Bone
by Mia Marlowe
The Spirt of the Highlander #1

A Bride Comes to Bonniebroch

But Cait Grant is hardly dreaming of wedded bliss. As a duty to her father, she must marry Adam Cameron, laird of Bonniebroch. And then, because of a blood oath to her clan, she must murder him…

If only her new husband weren’t so devilishly handsome.

If only she didn’t have to play the loving wife for one long, languorous month. If only she didn’t surrender to his softly sensual touch, she would be able to fulfill her oath. If only she didn’t fall in love…

My thoughts...

When it came time to pick my historical I looked at a bunch before making my decision. Some I couldn't get into, others I didn't care for the story line. It ended up taking me a few days to finally decide on what I wanted to read. I know what you're thinking....days?...really? Give me a break, I had other books that need to be read.

They (the books) are the reason I'm always behind. I'm beginning to believe that my books are plotting against me. It has nothing to do with the fact that I read & buy way to many books. Nope, it's the books fault!

When I did finally decide I picked a author that I hadn't tried before, one that always sounded good to me. I'm glad that I did. I really enjoyed Plaid to the Bone. I have a confession to make, I like when series start with novella's. Or I should say I like when new-to-me-authors series start with novella's. It's a great way to get a feel for them.

And that worked here. I don't know if as pressed for reading space as I am, and me not reading as many historical's if I would have tried it right now. Just because I'm not into historical's right now doesn't' mean that tomorrow I won't be.

In the end I did read it and enjoyed it. There is humor in it that I liked. If you know my you know I like my humor. I also enjoyed the characters. the plot wasn't anything new, but well done and that's always a plus for me. I enjoyed the light paranormal part of it. Not to worry if you're not a big fan of paranormal's, it just brushes at it.

All-in-all it's a enjoyable cute story that I'm glad that I took the time to read. Now if I could only find time for the others in the series...

If you've read Plaid to the Bone I'd love to hear your thoughts? Happy reading!
