There's a new sheriff in Fallbrook … Meet Dylan McBride.
Jessie Thompson had one hell of a week. Dylan McBride, the boy she loved, skipped town without a word. Then her drunk of a father tried to kill her, and she fled Fallbrook, vowing never to return. Eight years later, her father is dead, and Jessie reluctantly goes home—only to come face-to-face with the man who shattered her heart. A man who, for nearly a decade, believed she was dead.

Dylan accepted the position as sheriff of Fallbrook looking for a fresh start and a chance to uncover the truth about Jessie's disappearance. He knew he'd have to face a few ghosts … he just never thought one would be Jessie, all grown up, stunning … and alive. The pull between them is instant, but Dylan's heart has already mourned Jessie, and she has secrets she can never share. Can they escape the darkness of their past for a chance at a bright future together?

Review

I can't tell you enough how much I love books by Jennifer Ryan. Whenever she has a new one out I'm first in line. Up this time is Dylan McBride. You met him in The Return of Brody McBride and Falling for Owen. Both great books in their own. Dylan is the type of man that hero's want to be. He's a loving father, a caring cousin. You won't be able to help but feel your heart break for him when he finds out the woman he thinks is dead, isn't. But the hits for him keep coming. I'll leave you to read it to find out what "Hits" I'm talking about. You'll also like Jessie Thompson. She's such a good person who no matter how she tries not to be. The relationship between these two have many bumps in them and they will both have to learn to trust each other bone deep. But not to worry, they both have good, loving people in their lives that will help them through it all. This is a great read for the end of summer.
