Review: On Sunset Beach by Mariah Stewart

One Sunset Beach

On Sale July 1st, 2014

Carly Summit’s name couldn’t be more fitting, since in life she always lands on top. She grew up wealthy and privileged in a tony Connecticut town, opened her own gallery in New York City, and is about to make art world history displaying previously unknown works by a prominent twentieth-century painter. No wonder she possesses a can-do attitude that can’t be soured. Ford Sinclair is another story. A military career in war-torn Africa, where he witnessed unspeakable violence and suffering, has left him haunted and deeply cynical. Now he’s looking for a way to forget and a place to belong. He hopes to find both back home in St. Dennis.
When Carly is forced to move the premiere of her new exhibition from Manhattan to St. Dennis, and Ford agrees to take charge of the town’s only newspaper, the two cross paths. But it’s hardly the start of a beautiful friendship. While Ford can’t ignore her charms, Carly’s unflappable good cheer only confounds him. Yet beneath Ford’s stormy brooding, Carly sees a man worth caring about—even if her warmest ways can’t thaw his frozen heart.

She lives with her husband and their two dogs — a geriatric golden retriever and a rambunctious rescue retriever mix — amidst the rolling hills of Chester County, PA where she savors country life, tends her gardens, and tries to avoid running the Amish buggies off the road with her SUV.

As always I'm so happy to read a book by Mariah Stewart. She makes me feel like I've come home. You can't help but want to read what Grace is writing in her diary. Up this time is Grace's son, Ford. We've heard a lot about him in past books but this is the first time he's come home. Is it a visit? Or permanent? All we've learned about Ford in past books might not have been true. I know it's not but I'm wanting you to enjoy finding out what's what. As Ford comes home to decompress he is forced to take over the newspaper for his mother, (I'm not telling your why, you'll have to read the book to find out) which is not what he sees himself doing in his future. So until he does know what he wants to do, why not spend time with Carly. Smart man! Carly is in town setting up a art exhibit and she finds herself enjoying her time with Ford. What do we think will happen. Put your hand down and go read the book!. This is the perfect beach read. Did you see what I did there? Beach read, On Sunset BEACH! Okay, maybe it was only good in my own head. I will be honest and tell you this is such a good story. I can't wait to read what's next in this great town. Happy reading!

I was given a copy of this book for a honest review

  1. I hope to be reading this soon. I love this series. And hasn't Ford become a popular name?

    1. I thought the same thing. Sometime I forget which book the name goes with.

  2. I've not tried her yet! It sounds pretty good. I'll have to give hers a look-see :)
