Reading Challenge 2024

The summer Poppy Fairbanks turned sixteen she gave Boone Avery her virginity and he stole her heart. For a few blissful months she walked on clouds, until he left Crystal Lake without a word and she never saw him again. The fact that he’s back shouldn’t matter. But it does. And she finds herself thinking about that summer, about his hot kisses and what if…

Considering she vowed never to speak to him again, how inconvenient is that?

Boone Avery came back to Crystal Lake to raise his son. As a man who’s lived his life for everyone but himself, he’s hoping this time around he can do things right. He has no time for romancing a woman, hell, he’s still trying to figure out his own life. But what’s a guy to do when the one that got away is standing right in front of him? Especially when she makes it clear she doesn’t like him all that much.

If you’re Boone Avery you throw out the playbook and set your own rules, and to hell with consequence.
Like all the other books in this series I really enjoyed this one. Both Boone and Poppy have some baggage from the past that will play a point in this story. I think you'll really enjoy these two and Boone's son.

I so like Poppy. She is the sweetest if not a sad person. She tries to hide it but those who care about her know. You didn't learn much about why until her own book. There is more to Poppy then what meets the eye. Her unhappy relationship with her mother has really weighed on her. Her mother is the reason why some people move away from family.

At times I didn't really care for Boone. I loved how much her cared about his son, but I was already a fan of Poppy so when he came into the picture, he was the enemy. It took me a bit to see him for who he really was, not for what was done in the past.

As you learn what happened to stop these two from having the HEA before it really hurts. But I will say that I think they are stronger people from growing up a bit. Sometimes you aren't ready for a big love until you both can stand strong.

This turned out to be a wonderful story and I really was happy that they were about to work their things out. They are so good together and deserved to be a family. This book is why I've been enjoying this series.
